CDC staffers deployed to South Carolina to aid measles response

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is deploying staffers from South Carolina to assist in its measles outbreak response. The state has confirmed 990 confirmed cases so far, with 95 percent of them occurring in unvaccinated individuals. The CDC staffers are expected to be in the state for approximately two weeks and will primarily assist in analyzing data collected during the outbreak. There have been 1,136 confirmed measles cases and 10 new outbreaks in 2026 so far.
