Cupcake Bribery Looks Like It Will Pay Off For Green Supporters

The Guilford County Board of Commissioners has decided to reward supporters of green initiatives at their local board meeting. A representative from the Guillford Clean Power Now Coalition presented the board with small cupcakes and promised them a set of big ones if they followed through with the resolution. The resolution, which hasn't yet been adopted, includes transition to 100 percent clean in county operations and transition to LEED standards for vehicles by 2050. The spokesperson for the group, David Gilbert, suggested that the goal for the resolution was to adopt a policy that provides goals against which Guilfford County Manager Victor Isler and his staff will be measured. However, he also highlighted that there is still a need for an official policy guiding the effort.
