Nicholas John Price, a 38-year-old man with a lengthy criminal history, was sentenced to more than 13 years in prison for fleeing police after assaulting his former girlfriend and causing a fatal crash in Maplewood, Minnesota. He had three open Ramsey County felony cases and was driving with a revoked license when he crashed into another driver's sedan while speeding. The victim, named Apostle L, was a father, grandfather and author who was working on a children's book dedicated to developing confidence and self-esteem. In January, Price pleaded guilty to causing a death while fleeing police and three other cases were dismissed as part of the plea deal. The agreed-upon 166-month prison term fell within state sentencing guidelines.
