12 IL Airports 'Hot Spots' At Risk For Collision, Confusion: FAA

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has identified 12 airports across the country that are at risk of collision or confusion. The list aims to alert pilots to specific problem areas to ensure heightened attention and avoidance of confusion. Issues such as planes taxiing into the wrong taxiway, short distances between parallel runways, or pilots navigating taxiways with heavy vehicle traffic. This comes after the FAA implemented a rule change at airports in part due to safety concerns at Michigan airports. The National Transportation Safety Board also highlighted similar concerns about the mixing of commercial and helicopter traffic.
