The village of Dolton, Illinois, is working on plans to pay a $33.5 million judgment in relation to a police chase lawsuit, which has accrued 6% per year since its inception. The village hopes to use a separate revenue source to pay the judgment, which could result in a "zero or very minimal increase" in property taxes. The deadline for the payment is April 23. As of Feb. 20, the village owed $40.6 million to the families of John Kyles and Duane Dunlap. The lawsuit against the insurance company is progressing, with the village hoping to recover up to $100 million from the company. The mayor has also appointed Bill Manousopoulos as village administrator.
