Northbrook School District 28 celebrated the opening of a new gymnasium at Meadowbrook Elementary on April 9. This is the first major project completed after voters approved a $94.9 million referendum last year. The 10-year Build 28 master facilities plan was made up of a nearly $95 million bond referendum approved by Northbrook voters in 2025. The district will also use $20 million in existing operating funds for the project, in addition to the $94 million raised from the referendum. The new gym is designed to withstand winds of 250 miles per hour and features enhanced wood flooring for safety and athletic performance, designated restrooms for students and premium sound system and speakers.
