Annual Mud Fest brings hands-on environmental education to City Park

The fourth annual Louisiana Children’s Museum Mud Fest in New Orleans attracted hundreds of children to learn about environmental issues such as coastal land loss, recycling, composting and preservation. The event featured five dump-truck loads of mud and interactive learning booths. Alahna Moore, education outreach coordinator at the museum, said the hands-on learning was crucial for building neuro-pathways at an early age and building confidence and curiosity about the natural world. After learning about the soil, kids ran through a "kid-wash" water feature.
