A whale found dead in Newark Bay has been identified as an endangered sei whale. The animal underwent a necropsy, an animal autopsy, conducted by the Marine Mammal Stranding Center and the Atlantic Marine Conservation Society. It was found to be in moderate condition and had not been feeding recently. The center has responded to four sei whales strandings since 1978.
