Rene Perez, a Florida nurse, was arrested nearly a year and a half after allegedly brutally beat his married ex-coworker, Linda Campitelli, to death in October 2024. The two lovers had been having an affair for two years and were planning to be "romantic" for her birthday. Perez allegedly lured her to meet with him to celebrate her birthday and then beat her to death, causing a gruesome skull and rib fractures. The day before the alleged rendezvous, Campiteelli messaged Perez on WhatsApp that she felt "a little nervous" about their planned get together. Perez responded by telling Campitell that he was trying to show his romantic side and that it wouldn't be as good as what he'd done for him. The victim's mangled body was discovered by police 50 feet away from the car.
