A Georgia couple, 33-year-old Andrew James Groncki and 23-year old Megan Gibson, are facing charges for cruelty to animals, improper disposal of a dead animal, failure to maintain responsibility for control of rabies, and obstructing an animal control officer in the discharge of his official duties. The dog was found dead in a backyard in Rossville, Georgia, after refusing to eat, losing weight, and showing symptoms including vomiting and diarrhea. A necropsy revealed that the dog had been dead for three to five days and a cloth-like material covering bones in the stomach was found preventing proper digestion. If convicted, Groncki could face up to three years in prison and up to two years in jail.
