Man accused of threatening deputy mayor was convicted for murdering priest

William Royle, accused of threatening the city's deputy mayor with a knife, was convicted in 1980 of murdering a priest. He was sentenced to 25 years to life and was released in 2024. The threat was made to Deputy Mayor Eugenio Russi, who was unharmed. Royle was arraigned on several charges, including fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and second-degree menacing.
