The National Institute for Fitness and Sport (NIFS) hosted its fourth annual "Pump it for Parkinson's" event, a step-a-thon style event with over 500 locations across the country. The event, part of NIFS's efforts for Parkinson’s Awareness Month, set a goal of reaching 50 million steps nationally this year. The group partnered with White River State Park and encouraged people to track their steps to submit. NIFI's president, Emily Davenport, emphasized the importance of exercise in managing Parkinson's symptoms. The organization also promotes fitness programs for people living with the disease and runs an exercise regimen called "Bold Moves."
