Ohio's public-service and business lobbies have begun organizing against proposed repeal of Ohio's property tax, with the help of former Statehouse GOP veteran Curt Steiner as a spokesman. The groups aim to repeal the single largest source of funding for local communities, which could result in the elimination of local services. While property-tax foes are uncertain about gathering the necessary 413,487 voter signatures to place the question on the ballot, Steiner's association with Ohioans to Protect Public Services indicates serious concern about the dangers property-Tax repeal would pose to Ohioans. Former two-term Gov. Richard F. Celeste, a Democrat from Greater Cleveland, has been encouraging Democrats to focus on Democrats' 2026 state candidate campaigns rather than their own.
