Cheryl Hines, wife of Trump cabinet member Robert F. Kennedy Jr., had to be physically carried through the Washington Hilton ballroom after shots were fired and a suspect was apprehended at the 2026 White Hose Correspondents' Dinner. The incident occurred shortly after 8:30 p.m. ET and resulted in gunfire being exchanged and one Secret Service officer being injured. At a press conference after the shooting, President Donald Trump said the officer was saved by his bulletproof vest.
