Notta-owned company SpeakOn has developed a dedicated device for dictation, but its form factor and platform limitations were noted as a mixed experience. The device, which costs $129 and can be used for 10 hours or more, can stick on the back of your iPhone via MagSafe and is light and comes with a companion app on iOS. It does not use the iPhone’s mic and relies on its own mic. However, the device's dedicated mics often underperform due to surrounding noise. The app changes AI editing and tone based on the app, but users can manually change these edits manually. Despite these limitations, the reviewer found the device could be used more if it were compatible with Mac and could dictate in any app.
