IU, Zimmer Biomet announce partnership to advance orthopedic research

Indiana University (IU) and medical device company Zimmer Biomet have announced a three-year partnership to advance research and technology in the field of orthopedic medicine. The agreement was signed by IU President Pamela Whitten and CEO Ivan Tornos at IU Indianapolis' Innovation Hall. The university and company will collaborate on research and development, work together to develop the medical workforce through technical training and credentialing. Both parties will share personnel, information and technology to address conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, and other musculoskeletal disorders and injuries. This announcement comes six months after IU Indy broke ground on a five-story, 150,000-square foot facility in the 16 Tech Innovation District that will house the IU Launch Accelerator for Biosciences.
