Building a stronger immunization workforce across Indonesia

The World Health Organization (WHO) has been working to build a stronger immunization workforce in Indonesia, with up to 37% of primary healthcare centres (puskesmas) having no trained officers and over half of over 10 000 immunization officers reporting a lack of accredited training. This was part of WHO's long-standing assistance for the Ministry of Health, including developing a week-long training programme for immunization managers and a new three-day training for vaccinators. The organization also developed a training-evaluation tool to address a key gap in Indonesia's immunization manager training. These efforts were supported by short, easy to use video job aids to sustain the quality of immunization delivery.
