Brennan Hubbell, the brother artist and brother of sculptor James Hubbell and his brother Bert, curated an exhibition of their work at the Oceanside Museum of Art in San Diego. The exhibition, which opened on April 11 at the museum, was inspired by the deaths of both brothers within weeks of each other in 2024. The brothers, who were separated for much of their lives, maintained a unique connection through their shared art through letters and sharing of art. Brennan Hubbell is an accomplished artist himself, and the exhibition is on view until Sept. 6. James HubBell, known for his multihyphenate presence in the artistic world as a sculptor, painter and designer, was born in Mineola, N.Y., and later lived a quieter artistic life in Japan, where he lived for 60 years with his wife, Hiroko. His brother, Bert, also lived in Japan. The show is part of a larger effort to reunite these brothers.
