ZDNET has tested ChatGPT vs. Claude to see if it's worth switching to the better AI platform due to recent issues with OpenAI (OpenAI) and the growing popularity of Claude. The tests were conducted using only the free versions of ChatGpt (GPT-5.3) and Claude (Sonnet 4.6 and Haiku 4.5). The author found that both platforms excel at different tasks and cautioned against using one for all. He also noted that while Claude was more detailed and clearer, ChatGPS was more accurate and had fewer sources. The author's research also included a 2025 Associated Press-NORC poll of 1,093 US adults on AI use, a survey commissioned by Samsung on how people use AI on their phones, and OpenAI's own study on usage shifting from work to everyday tasks.
