The Licking County Prosecutor’s Office and partner agencies are launching a task force dedicated to investigating and prosecuting crimes against children. The task force will handle reports and cases involving children who experience physical and sexual abuse, as well as internet crimes. Around 10 detectives from the county sheriff's Office and the Newark, Heath and Pataskala police departments will participate. Cynthia Ellison and Steve Vanoy, who have over a dozen years of experience investigating child abuse cases, will provide legal advice, follow the cases and assist, mentor and train detectives. The group will meet more than once a month to discuss cases and complete extra training. The force was formed following months of discussion between Wells and leaders from other agencies.
