The incident occurred at the airport's main security checkpoint at 5:24 a.m. on Wednesday. The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) discovered the weapon during routine screening and identified Landis as an individual without a valid concealed carry permit. The federal government can also impose significant federal civil penalties on individuals who bring firearms to airport security checkpoints, which can reach up to $10,000 for a single violation.
