‘Whispers in May,’ ‘Just Look Up,’ ‘Amazomania’ Among CPH:DOX Winners

The 23rd edition of the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, CPH:DOX, has awarded its top prize, DOX:Award, with Dongnan Chen's Whispers in May winning the top prize. The festival's international competition lineup included a total of 74 films, including 53 world premieres, 17 international premieres and four European debuts. The top prize was awarded to Emma Wall and Betsy Hershe’s Just Look Up, a documentary portrait of climate activist Michael Greenberg. The FIPRESCI Award went to Nathan Grossman's Amazomania, a reexamination of a decades-old film about the first contact made with the Korubo tribe in Brazil. The jury also awarded a special mention to Nolwenn Hervé's The Cord, a portrait of a maternity warrior in Venezuela. The DOX prize was €10,000 ($11,565) for its Audience Award.
