GoPro, a San Mateo-based action-based camera maker, has announced a global layoff of 145 jobs, representing 23% of its workforce. The layoffs are expected to be completed by the end of 2026. This follows a restructuring plan approved by the company's Board of Directors to reduce operating costs and increase operating leverage. The restructuring plan is expected to cost the tech company between $11.5 million and $15 million. Despite a 37% drop in year over the previous year, GoPro CEO Nicolas Woodman stated that the company had successfully launched three new hardware products and expects to return to revenue growth and profitability in Q4 2025 and 2026 respectively. This comes as another Bay Area tech company, Oracle, announces another round of layoffs, which reportedly involve thousands of jobs.
