Fashion Fair Mall could land a Dick's House of Sport. First, a 55-year-old building has to come down

A proposed Dick's Sporting Goods store at Fashion Fair Mall is dependent on the demolition of the former Forever 21 building. The mall's owner, Macerich, and Dick's representatives have told the Historic Preservation Commission that they plan to demolish the building to make way for a new Dick’s House of Sport. The commission's recommendation will go to the Fresno City Council. The building has been vacant since Forever 21 closed all its U.S. stores in 2025 following a bankruptcy filing. A historic resource evaluation, conducted by San Francisco firm Page & Turnbull, recommends against historic designation for the building.
