Mother praises Dorset fire station for saving daughter's life

The crew from Maiden Newton, Dorset, saved Lila-Claire's life by performing CPR until the air ambulance arrived. The station is currently being targeted for closure under proposals by the Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Authority that would save £1.5m annually. Carla's daughter spent nine months in hospital after her injuries. The fire authority has predicted a budget deficit of £2.2m next year and potentially more in future years.
