A Florida man, Yusiel Lopez Insua, has been charged with seaman's manslaughter in connection with the fatal collision that left three young girls, Mila Yankelevich, Arielle Buchman, and Erin Victoria Ko, 13, dead. The collision occurred on the Biscayne Bay in 2025. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Florida stated that Insuas was operating a tugboat pushing a barge loaded with construction debris with a deckhouse and crane obstructing the vessel's front view. The children's sailboat had stalled after losing wind and was on the path of the barge. If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in prison.
