Former Virginia Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax used his children's money to purchase the gun he used to murder their mother, Cerina Fairfax, according to court documents. The purchase occurred in 2022, the same year Fairfax left office following sexual assault allegations that severely impacted his political career. The divorce documents allege that Fairfax spent his days isolated in his home office surrounded by empty wine bottles, trash, and piles of dirty laundry. His wife was divorcing him and he was ordered to leave his shared home by April 30, but 14 days before his scheduled eviction, Fairfax killed his wife. The couple's teenage children were home at the time.
