Kite Launches Kite Chain and Kite Agent Passport, Enabling Autonomous AI Agent Payments
Published on April 30, 2026.
Kite has launched its mainnet and Kite Agent Passport, an identity and payment infrastructure specifically for autonomous AI agents. The launch marks Kite's transition from testnet to production, introducing a payments and settlement layer for agent-driven transactions. The Kite agent Passport gives AI agents a programmable, secure wallet to hold funds and make purchases for users, while users retain full control over spending limits and destinations. The platform is now integrated with over 90 service providers and is designed to enable a wide range of agentic payment use cases. Kite is also positioning itself as a hub for major payment protocol standards, including the x402 payment standard, Google's AP2 protocol, Stripe's Machine Payment Protocol (MPP), and Anthropic's Model Context Protocol (MCP). The company has raised $35 million in funding led by PayPal Ventures and General Catalyst.
