Beachwood police arrested a man for leaving his daughter, thought to be about 3 years old, unattended at a playground. The responding officer found the girl wandering about, calling out for help. The man was found sitting in a parked Toyota vehicle in the playground lot, in a handicap spot. He claimed to have been in the car for 10 minutes and then went to his car because he was "cold and bored." The girl was alone for 68 minutes. Police also arrested the man, 49, of Chardon, for child endangering. The woman's identity was later revealed to be a false birth date and she claimed to be 53 years old. Police were also called to the north parking lot at Beachwood Place mall where a theft suspect was stopped and handcuffed. The suspect was later trespassed from the store and banned from returning until April 11, 2027.
