Sewage spills leave us 'worried the water will make us ill'

South West Water has reduced spills by 17% in the last year and the duration of storm overflow usage has been reduced by 25%. However, campaigners are calling for more measures to reduce discharges. The Environment Agency revealed that the overall duration of spills increased in 2024. There is also a group legal action against SWW, claiming its failings are widespread in coastal towns across the Devon and Cornwall region.
