Most people killed in Iran's Gulf attacks have been from South Asia, according to Al Jazeera. The situation has left millions of South Asian families worried about the safety of their loved ones and the future of their dreams. One family in India received a call from Kuna's roommate informing them that their son had suffered a heart attack after hearing missiles and debris from interceptions falling near their residence. The family had taken on a 300,000-rupee ($3200) debt in 2025 for the marriages of their two daughters, and Kuna’s income in Doha was helping them collect what they needed to pay back the loan. Since the US and Israel launched their war on Iran, migrant workers have been among the most vulnerable. The suspension of work at many facilities and fears of a major economic downturn in the region have also left many workers worried about their futures.
