The Kansas City Health Department has launched a new online hub for free mental health support, kcmo.gov/mentalhealth, to make it easier for residents to access free, confidential support. The website includes digital tools that help residents assess substance use habits, access 24/7 recovery support, find caregiver guidance, and explore self-guided wellness resources. The results of a citywide survey revealed that many residents are experiencing emotional distress, isolation, and difficulty accessing care. The ePrevention screening tool allows residents to assess how alcohol or drug use may affect their lives and receive guidance or referral options based on their results. Additionally, the Connections App offers peer support for residents in recovery, exploring recovery or seeking additional help between provider visits.
