Alaska is expected to see a change in weather this weekend, with gusty winds expected across south-central regions and potentially dangerous wind chills for western Alaska. A high wind watch is in effect for the Lower Matanuska Valley, where winds could gust between 50 and 60 mph, which could cause debris and power outages. The Beaufort Sea coast will see the most severe conditions, with wind gusts expected to reach 30 to 50 mph. The Alaska Panhandle will see significant snow accumulation, with up to 9 inches possible around Haines and Klukwan near Sitka. Despite daytime highs reaching into the 20s across much of the state, overnight temperatures will remain below zero for several nights. A cold weather advisory is in place for much of western and northern Alaska due to dangerous wind chill conditions.
