The fifth generation of pioneering winemakers at Saratoga's Garrod Farms have taken over the reins. The farm was established in 1893 by David and Sophia Garrod of Sussex, England, along with their three children. The second generation expanded orchard acreage and planted hayfields, and purchased a defunct railroad station in Los Gatos, which now serves as a fruit drying and storage shed. Fifth-generation Cory Garrod Bosworth, who manages the tasting room and wine club, shared the history of her family’s legacy through photos and stories. George Cooper, who served as a pilot during WWII, married Louise Garrod and became a wine manager in 1972.
