Miserably long airport lines begin to ease as TSA workers start to recoup back pay

TSA workers are beginning receiving back pay after more than a month without a paycheck due to the partial government shutdown. Some workers have already received two full paychecks they missed due to this, while others are still waiting for a partial paycheck from the end of February. It is unclear when these employees will receive all their back pay. About 61,000 TSA employees have been working without pay since February 14, missing over $1 billion in pay. The situation has left many unable to afford basic necessities like food, gas, housing, child care, and other necessities. Despite this, the TSA workforce will not be the same as the current shutdown, with about 500 workers leaving since February.
