A federal judge in Florida has dismissed President Donald Trump's $10 billion defamation lawsuit against The Wall Street Journal over a story alleging that he sent a lewd 50th birthday card to Jeffrey Epstein. The judge stated that the suit "comes nowhere close" to the standard of actual malice, a showing that a false statement was made with knowledge it was false or made with reckless disregard. The lawsuit was filed in July after the Journal published a story claiming a birthday book had been assembled for Epstein's birthday in 2003. Despite denying any wrongdoing connected to the card, the judge did not make factual determinations about whether the story was true.
