Boston defense attorney David Yannetti has been retained to represent a Boston police officer accused of manslaughter in connection with a deadly shooting. Stephenson King, 39, of Dorchester, was fatally shot on March 11 and accused of accelerating a stolen vehicle towards officers in an attempt to flee a crime scene. Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said his office found evidence contradicting Officer Nicholas O'Malley's statement of events, but has declined to release the body camera footage. The prosecution believes witness statements and body-worn cameras contradict O’Malley's claim that he "tried to run us over" was not "factually true". The case has been criticized by Yannett and fellow attorney Christina Pujals as an overstep by the district attorney's office.
