Four wildfires have started across the state of Nebraska, killing one person and setting thousands of acres ablaze. The largest of the fires, Morrill, Cottonwood, Anderson Bridge and Road 203, has consumed 643,361 acres and is 16% contained. These fires are the largest in the state's history. Communities near the fires were evacuated due to the dangers they pose. Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen issued an emergency proclamation to access resources to respond to the wildfire. National Guard soldiers and airmen were deployed to assist local fire crews. The National Weather Service has warned of continued fire risks due to warmer weather, dry conditions, and high winds.
